Introducing Strength: The First VR Dumbbell-Based Workout

Did you hear the news? As of March 29, Liteboxer is now Litesport. We’ve got a new name, a new look, and a brand-new and first-of-its-kind workout: Strength. Read on to learn more about how you can challenge your full body with strength training exercises in the metaverse.

Launching Our Newest Workout Mode: Strength

We’re excited to introduce you to Strength, a VR dumbbell-based workout that helps you build strength the right way. In Strength workouts, our certified trainers guide you through tried-and-true strength training exercises, incorporating real dumbbells and weights.

Here are all the benefits of this brand-new workout:

Workout Alongside Your Trainer

These classes leverage Meta’s mixed reality features like passthrough and hand-tracking, giving the appearance that your trainer is right there with you in your own home. Or you can select one of our many workout environments such as our Litesport studio, fitness club, trainer stage, and more. Having a trainer in front of you levels up your workout and keeps you motivated. Throughout each class, they’re also calling out and demonstrating the correct form for each exercise, making your workout more accessible, safe, and effective.

Target 16 Key Muscle Groups

Strength workouts target 16 key muscles, which are showcased on the unique and interactive muscle map. You can filter content by specific muscle groups to change the focus of each workout to better reach your goals.

Track Your Progress

Instead of a leaderboard or Match results, Strength is a competition against yourself. With each workout, we’ll share your total calories burned, muscles worked, weight lifted, reps completed, and more. And when you complete 5 sets of an exercise for a specific muscle, it’ll glow at 100% on your muscle map. This will slowly fade to 0% over the next 5 days. These results and progress tracking stats encourage you to come back for another workout so you can keep that muscle map glowing bright and get stronger with each class.

Perfect for Everyone From the Beginner to the Pro

This new workout mode is perfect for those interested in strength training who may feel intimidated or unsure of where to start. With Strength, you can try weight-based workouts from the privacy of your own home and learn correct form and technique along the way.

But even if you’re not new to strength training, the diversity of options and ability to target different muscle groups makes it easy to go for the gains and tackle your biggest strength goals. Use the muscle heat map to track your progress and easily see which muscle groups you’ve recently worked on or may have underworked in recent weeks. These workouts are an excellent way to begin or advance your strength training journey, all from the comfort of your own home.

Workout to Chart-Topping Music

Our exclusive license deal with Universal Music Group brings thousands of chart-topping hits to our Litesport Premium membership. That means you can build muscle as you’re working out to the music of top artists like The Weeknd, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Machine Gun Kelly, Kendrick Lamar, and more.

Music helps motivate you to work out and can help you lift harder and longer. This isn’t a fluke of nature. There is scientific proof that music can distract you from feelings of pain and fatigue, boost your mood, elevate your endurance, and make your workout even more fun.

Builds Stronger Bones & Supports Your Overall Health

Strength training is about more than just getting ripped, it’s actually an incredibly important part of your workout routine. And that’s because strength training has a ton of benefits for your body—like building stronger bones, helping prevent injury, supporting weight loss, and boosting body confidence. Learn more about some of the top benefits of strength training in our blog.

Litesport Strength: How Does It Work?

From the home screen, select “Strength” to scroll through and find your next workout. Enter the weight of the dumbbell you’re using for the class. You can opt to use your controllers instead if you don’t own weights, but we recommend using actual weights to get the best experience and results.

For your safety and comfort, and to help monitor your form as you lift weights, passthrough mode is automatically activated during all Strength workouts. But you can manually switch to a workout environment if you prefer. Throughout the class, a muscle diagram will highlight the specific muscles you’re working with each movement. You can also preview upcoming exercises and track the time remaining for each movement with the workout timer.

After your workout, the results screen displays your total calories burned and the time spent on each muscle group. If you entered the weight of your dumbbells, the app will also calculate your total weight lifted during that workout. If you didn't enter or use any weights, the results screen will display your total reps instead.

We recommend working a muscle group every 2 to 3 days to balance work and rest. Come back regularly to keep your muscle map bright and your work focused on the specific muscles you care about. You can also revisit workouts to play again with a heavier set of weights.

Whether your goal is to lift heavier weights or increase the number of reps, these performance trends are critical because they help you track your progress over time. Your profile combines your workout results over 1, 7, 30, and 90 days, encouraging you to establish a regular workout routine and keep coming back for more. This also makes it easy to compare different workouts and achieve balance across different muscle groups.
