Litesport 2023 Year in Review: Most-Played Workouts, New Features, & More

What a year it’s been! As a community across 2023, we’ve done everything from launching new workouts to celebrating major milestones. And while it’s impossible to highlight it all, we’re certainly going to try…

Our biggest announcement by far in 2023 was when we went from Liteboxer to Litesport. As the leading player in the world of VR fitness, we figured it was time for a new look and a new name. But this was more than a name change! This was a significant milestone marking our transformation from boxing workouts to being your one-stop destination for fitness in the virtual world.

But we didn’t stop there! In 2023 we also launched in Europe, celebrated Litesport VR’s first birthday, introduced a brand-new strength training workout, challenged Litesporters to our toughest workout yet, doubled the fun with Litesport Teamwork workouts, and more.

We also met and worked out with some pretty cool people like the founder and owner of Rebl Union boxing club Aaron Wilson, new Squid Games reality TV star Chase Higgenz, American singer and songwriter Quinn XCII, and more. And we’re still hitting the streets in our Litesport Knockout series, challenging New Yorkers to all kinds of fitness challenges.

To say it’s been an exciting year would be an understatement. Let’s take a look back at 2023 with Litesport and all we’ve accomplished this past year.

New Features & Updates From the Past Year

2023 has been full of updates, brand-new features, and workout releases to improve your Litesport experience. Here’s a review of some of the most exciting changes from the past year:

Litesport Available in 16+ European Countries

We made a big announcement at the start of 2023. And that was that Litesport is now available to download in Ireland, Germany, Sweden, and 13 other European countries from Meta's Quest Store. Not only that, but we’re also one of the only VR fitness games in the metaverse to expand our access internationally. Learn more about where you can access Litesport.

Introducing Litesport

This year we said goodbye to Liteboxer and hello to Litesport! When we joined the VR space in March of 2022, we saw ourselves as more than just a boxing workout. We aspire to be your one-stop shop for all things VR fitness. And with the launch of Litesport this year, we’re on our way to achieving that goal. In other words, we’re in our Litesport era! With this announcement came some new changes like a new logo, brand new website, app UX/UI refresh, updated social handles, an exciting new workout, and a more precise laser-based system. Learn more about the change to Litesport and all the exciting updates that came along with it.

Litesport Strength

In March 2023, alongside our Litesport announcement, we also unveiled a brand-new workout: Strength. In Strength workouts, our certified trainers guide you through tried-and-true strength training exercises, incorporating real dumbbells and weights. These classes leverage Meta’s mixed reality features like passthrough and hand-tracking, giving the appearance that your trainer is right there with you in your own home. Throughout each class, our trainers call out and demonstrate the correct form for each exercise, making your strength training workout more accessible, safe, and effective.

Can You Beat The Bot?

In September, we launched a “Beat the Bot” Mitt Drill, our TOUGHEST workout drop in months. In this Mitt Drill workout, you can face off against a boxing bot to the ever-increasing speed of the “Swan Lake” theme. It’s next to impossible to get a perfect score in your first match-up against the bot. But why not give it a try? Learn more about how you can beat the bot

Movement 101 Demo Series

Maintaining proper form is essential for safety, efficiency, and effectiveness in strength training. But it’s normal to wonder, “Am I doing this right?!” Well, we're here to help! This year we launched a Movement 101 Demo Series on Instagram and our blog. In this series, we walk you step-by-step through some of the top exercises you'll find in our Strength workouts. For each exercise, we provide step-by-step pointers and instructional videos to ensure you perform them with precision and safety. With this guide, you’ll gain the confidence and knowledge you need to perform these exercises correctly, preventing injuries and maximizing gains.

Meta Quest 3

We had some big news in the VR world this year: Meta dropped their latest and greatest headset the Meta Quest 3! This next-generation virtual and mixed-reality headset from Meta hit the shelves in October. The new headset features double the GPU processing power, higher-resolution displays, full-color passthrough, enhanced controller haptics, a slimmer and more comfortable design, and more. Join us on our blog where we talk about all the new features you can expect in this powerful headset and how they’ll impact your Litesport experience.

Xponential+

This year, Litesport also joined forces with Xponential Fitness to develop Xponential+, a virtual and mixed-reality app that takes well-known fitness studios and brings them straight to your living room. These include renowned Xponential Fitness brands like Club Pilates, Pure Barre, and StretchLab. We were thrilled to announce this groundbreaking new virtual and mixed-reality fitness venture. But this isn’t just another fitness app. It’s a one-stop-shop for anyone looking to elevate their fitness journey through the unparalleled power of virtual and mixed reality. Learn more about our Xponential+ partnership on our blog.

Teamwork Workouts

Earlier this month we also announced a brand-new trainer-led workout option: Teamwork workouts! Traditionally, our Litesport workouts are led by a single trainer. But with the launch of Teamwork, we’re bringing you a dynamic duo of trainers. These classes are the perfect blend of entertainment and expertise as two trainers guide you through your workout, instead of one. These dual trainer-led workouts are engaging, entertaining, and even more fun.

What People Have Said About Litesport This Past Year

This year we’re thankful and proud to be featured in several publications and news outlets including Athletech News, VR Scout, and Fitt Insider announcing our major brand change.
