Get Fit With Litesport: 5 Tips for Beginners
Are you looking for a new way to get fit, have fun, and learn a new skill? Litesport is an excellent option! Litesport is an at-home and on-the-go workout that brings you full-body fitness through boxing workouts, strength training, and more. Not only is it an incredible workout, but it can also be a great way to build confidence while having fun.
If you’re thinking about working out with Litesport, here are 5 tips to help you get started:
Tip #1: Invest in the Right Gear
Unless you’re shadowboxing, you'll need some essential boxing equipment before you start boxing, like a pair of quality boxing gloves and hand wraps. The rest of your equipment needs depends on the type of workout you’re looking for. And lucky for you, you don't need much for a Litesport workout! To enter the virtual boxing ring you’ll need a Meta Quest VR Headset.
Tip #2: Learn Proper Boxing Technique
As with any sport or activity, it's important to learn proper form and technique when boxing with Litesport. This will help you be more efficient in your punches and move quicker, as well as reduce your risk of injury. In our classes, our Litesport Trainers will show you proper techniques for punching, footwork, defense, and even breathing. But here are some of the basics (plus more in-depth guides to help):
- Start with your boxer’s stance: If you’re right-handed (or an Orthodox boxer) put your left foot forward and your right foot back. It’s the opposite for left-handed or Southpaw boxers. Next, bring your hands up to your chin to protect your face, tuck your chin slightly down, and keep your shoulders soft. And stay light on your feet! Learn more about proper boxing form.
- Learn how to punch correctly: Taking the time to learn how to properly throw each type of punch — jab, cross, hook & uppercut — with correct form is essential for success in the ring. Check out our How to Punch: Your Step-By-Step Beginner Guide for tips.
- Master your defensive moves: Even if you never plan on sparring with a boxing partner, learning defensive moves keeps you light on your feet, enhancing your power and accuracy. Learn how to master defensive moves with Litesport.
Practice makes perfect so the real key to nailing your boxing technique is to keep boxing. And pay close attention to your Trainers during your workout as they'll offer a ton of great boxing tips & pointers!
Tip #3: Focus On Your Footwork
Footwork is a crucial skill in boxing. It allows you to move quickly around your opponent and set up for an effective punch. That’s why it’s important as a beginner boxer to dedicate some time to learning basic footwork drills so that you can become more agile in the ring.
Start by keeping light on your feet while practicing shuffles (side-to-side movements) and circles (forward & backward steps). This will allow you to improve both offensive & defensive movement in the ring.
Once comfortable with these basic techniques, try adding more complex footwork drills such as bobbing & weaving or weaving & pivoting into your training routine so that you can be ready for anything inside the ring. It may feel awkward at first but with enough practice, it will soon feel like second nature.

Tip #4: Build Up Your Endurance
Boxing involves quick and explosive movements — which is why it’s easy to feel exhausted after only a few rounds of boxing combinations. As a beginner boxer, one of the best ways to build your boxing skillset is to add strength and conditioning to your workout routine.
Our Strength classes are all about building more power, strength, and mobility so you’re ready to enter the ring with full force. In Strength workouts, our certified trainers guide you through tried-and-true strength training exercises, incorporating real dumbbells and weights. Our Total Body workouts also challenge your full body with exciting and responsive VR elements like slamming battle ropes and racking up points on the speed bag.
No matter which Litesport class you choose, we’re getting your body boxing-ready with workouts that challenge your endurance and strength. You’ll engage all the major muscles you need in the ring, including your lats, core, deltoids, biceps, triceps, quads, hamstrings, and more.
Tip #5: Set Goals & Have Fun
Finally, set realistic goals for yourself and track your progress using your personal stats in the profile of your Litesport mobile app. And don’t forget why you decided to start boxing in the first place—to have fun! Whether your goal is weight loss, confidence building, or learning how to defend yourself in a safe environment, there are plenty of benefits of boxing that will keep you motivated on your journey toward success.
And remember: boxing is challenging both mentally and physically. So try not to put too much pressure on yourself if things don’t go perfectly the first time around. Take breaks when needed and focus on improving yourself bit by bit each day. With patience and persistence, it won’t be long until you’re removing “beginner” from your boxing title.
